My teaching approach aims for a relaxed, light-hearted style that creates a friendly atmosphere suitable for various levels of English proficiency, skill development, and content understanding.
Over the years, I have had many rewarding teaching experiences that align with my research and personal interest in understanding the relationship between the mind, brain, body, learning, teaching, and education.
The content of the Life Up Action awareness-raising course is the result of extensive research conducted over many years and positive feedback gathered from numerous university students. It is my long-term mission to spread this message further with the goal of positively impacting more people by providing knowledge they can implement in their lives now and in the future.

Why JApan?
Meet your LIFE UP ACTION teacher, Steve Jugovic
I was born in Australia and grew up with various interests related to Japan and Japanese culture, particularly through training in karate as a teenager. These interests led me to Japan in 1996 where I started teaching at a language school, then at a high school and eventually as a full-time lecturer at university in 2003. Since coming to Japan, enjoying my teaching, life, and eventually starting a family, one of my missions has been to show gratitude by helping Japanese people through teaching.

As someone who enjoys the outdoors, a variety of social sports and martial arts, I discovered my lifelong passion for Iaido in 2000. This practice continues to provide valuable teachings on many aspects of life. I am currently ranked as a 6th dan instructor and feel very fortunate to be a member of the highly supportive Hokenkai Iaido club.
